If you have had your laptop a couple of years and never serviced it, by now it will be starting to slow up and frustrate you, even when you are asking it to do the simplest of tasks.

Here’s a few things you should do:

1. Stop applications you barely use at start up, I mean how often do you really use Skype?
2. Clean up your desktop, put everything into folders and add shortcuts to your desktop.
3. Check your hard drive for errors, your hard drive will fail, it depends whether it happens tomorrow or in 10 years!
4. Consider upgrading your memory – Remember if your Windows is 32bits you will always be limited to 4GB
5. Consider a SSD upgrade, it will make a huge difference to the speed from boot to application running speeds
6. Clean up your programs, check through your list do you ever use it?
7. Clean your system with a virus scanner like MalwareBytes, it’s free and its awesome.
8. DO NOT download or install anything that says it will speed up your laptop, it won’t, only slow it down with nonsense.
9. If you are a home user you might not need full heavy duty protection some of the big security companies offer, they can really slow down your speeds.
10. Clean your fans with compressed air, most likely they will be full of dust, make sure you take it outside before spraying, as that dust goes everywhere.
